Cryptocurrencies may not be recognized as stable investment vehicles, but they carry opportunities for making money, hedging against inflation, and supporting tech projects.
I’ve been involved in the crypto ecosystem since 2017 by chance, when I happen to work on the white paper of several ICO projects.
However, I’ve been quite slow in putting my money where my mouth is.
Now, I’m trying to catch up on lost grounds by investing in reasonable crypto projects that I believe will see the light of the day.
So, why crypto?
It is important to note that cryptocurrency can be very volatile and all your investment can be effectively wiped out in the twinkle of an eye.
I understand that.
And that is why I am investing only money I can afford to lose.
My biggest reason for investing in crypto is to support a few projects that I believe should be created or developed for the good of the tech ecosystem.
These projects create value and try to solve problems, so I really do not mind supporting them.
Even if I lose money while supporting these crypto projects, I wouldn’t even feel at a loss.
After all, it is better to fail at something big than not to try at all.
So, here are the 5 Cryptocurrencies I’m bullishly investing in for the long term. I may continue to invest and hold them for the next 5 to 10 years, depending on how things change.
Ethereum (ETH)
I’m very bullish on Ethereum, at least for the next 3 years, due to the constant improvement going on in the Ethereum blockchain.
Ethereum might not be what we want it to be right now, but Ethereum 2.0 is going to be all that.
I strongly believe that for all the value of Ethereum’s ecosystem and the thousands of decentralized applications being launched on its blockchain, Ethereum is grossly underpriced.
The year 2022 or 2023 may see Ethereum 2.0 put smiles on many faces, as Eth 2.0 is going to address its scalability and price issues once and for all.
Polkadot (DOT)
I believe Polkadot is the Blockchain of the future.
Polkadot is what Ethereum 2.0 wants to be and even more.
By addressing the interoperability, security, and scalability issues of the earlier Blockchain, Polkadot through its Parachains is betting big on the future of Blockchain.
So, why not bet on the guys who are betting big on the future?
The team at Polkadot is also a very reputable one, being led by one of the co-founders of the Ethereum project.
They understand the current problems of the blockchain and they want to solve them.
The Testnet version of Polkadot, Kusama, is already giving us a taste of what DOT would bring, with several projects being launched to prove how scalable and fast the future blockchains could be.
Binance Coin (BNB)
Investing in BNB is a no-brainer for me.
As the largest crypto exchange in the world, and their constant evolution with crypto trends, Binance would continue to survive and may even become one of the most stable blockchain-enabled exchanges in the world.
I believe that in a gold rush, the people who make the most money are not the miners, but those selling the tools and providing the environment that enables the ecosystem.
Hence, BNB will continue to stay relevant, as long as Binance continues to stay involved and keep abreast with the crypto ecosystem.
Uniswap (UNI)
With so many different blockchains and tokens running parallel, there’s always the need for interoperability and interchangeability.
Here’s where Uniswap comes in.
When Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, wanted to give away some SHIB tokens which he received as a gift, guess what he did?
He went over to Uniswap and converted the SHIB tokens to other more acceptable cryptos worth over a billion dollars, which he donated as a relief fund.
Without Uniswap, crypto investors would be stuck with tokens they do not want and would be forced to stay on platforms they do not trust.
Uniswap provides a utility that gives a different kind of flexibility and liquidity than the one offered by P2P trading.
Until crypto exchanges and wallets stop building walls and being moat-inclined, Uniswap would continue to thrive.
And investors’ money will continue to rise.
Request Network (REQ)
Out of all the cryptos I’m investing in, REQ is probably the one I can relate with the most.
They are on a mission to democratize Crypto payments for web merchants all over the world.
They are already plugging in their payment and accounting APIs into several thriving ecosystems.
To show how serious the guys at REQ are, they’ve already built a woocommerce plugin on WordPress that allows merchants to request payments in different Cryptocurrencies.
So many other decentralized applications are already signing up to the REQ network due to how seamless their crypto payment tools are.
The more coverage REQ attains, and the more mainstream their payment protocol becomes, the more valuable the REQ token will be.
Now, it’s only fair that I invest in a project that is building financial tools that may become integral to my business in the future.
